City to Hold Ribbon Cutting Ceremony:
Frances J. Tilghman Memorial Dog Park
The City of Salisbury is pleased to announce the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Frances J. Tilghman Memorial Dog Park. The dog park will feature a large dog area, a small / timid / elderly dog area, benches, trash receptacles, clean-up mitt dispensers, and agility equipment.
This project is made possible through a generous donation from M.W. “Bill” Tilghman, Sr. and M.W. “Mat” Tilghman, Jr., as well as numerous donations from local businesses and individuals. Additional funding was received from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources through a Program Open Space grant.
The ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2011, at the Frances J. Tilghman Memorial Dog Park. The dog park is located at 430 North Park Drive, near the Civic Center and the Kiwanis Pavilion. All interested members of the public are invited to attend.

Welcome to the website of the Salisbury Dog Park!
Why do we need a dog park?
A dog park is a great addition to our city. It provides a safe and contained area for your pet to play, as well as providing companionship and networking for us humans. Help us create a great place for your dog!
Dog parks provide excellent benefits for dog lovers everywhere! Below is a list of reasons to support your local dog park:
- Dog Parks allow for socialization with other dogs and people. Many dog behavior problems in the home are caused by a lack of socialization.
- Dog Parks allow for plenty of exercise and play in a safe, fenced-in area. This is great for people who have busy lives, live in an apartment, or do not have a fenced yard.
- Not only will your pup make new friends, but you will too! This is a great place to meet fellow dog lovers!
- Well-exercised dogs are less destructive and noisy. Boredom can be another cause of pet misbehavior in the home.
